 Ginger, officially known as Zingiber officinale is a wonderful spice that is used both in vegetables to add taste and in medicines to treat diseases. It has been used for more than 2500 years by the Chinese people as a herbal medicine after this Greek person began using it to make bread, then North Ameican take a sip of ginger beer to treat their stomach problems. It is originated in the tropical rainforest in Southern Asia.   Now it is used in tea as an ingredient mainly in winters to protect our body from viral and to add taste in tea. 


It is a  reed plant which grows three to four feet tall. It produces clusters of white and pink flower buds that bloom into yellow flowers. Because of its appealing beauty and attraction to warm climates, it's used as landscaping for many subtropical homes.  


Health Benefits Of Ginger

There are many benefits of ginger, some of these are :

  • Treating Cancer - The main use of this ingredient is for treating cancer, as  University of Michigan's Comprehensive Cancer Center found out that ginger is very effective in getting rid of cancer cells. In this, they used ginger with water in many cases and they found that with contact with the water and ginger solution, the cancerous cells either 'committed suicide' or just killed different cancer cells. This makes it in aiding cancer victims.


  • Treating stomach problems - It is used as a remedy to treat stomach problems as two of its extracts ginger ale and ginger beer painkilling properties and also treat the gas problem and bloating.  Even some problems like diarrhea are also treated with the help of ginger by many.


  • Great for your throat - Helps in the mucus secretion, and reduces the feeling of scratchiness or a cough in the throat.It also prevents holes or ulcers inside the lining of your stomach.


    • Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of ginger - Helps in reducing pain and discomfort from a toothache and also prevent and treat the common cold and flu.


    • Treating Heartburn - Heartburn ( pyrosis ) is a burning discomfort felt just above the belly. This is also sensed in the throat and also the neck. The windpipe gets disturbed when digestive juices from the stomach happen to be tossed upwards. The active chemicals gingerols and phenols present in the ginger helps in fighting the heartburn.
